Hawksbill Crag & Lost Valley

October 30, 2007
The trail to this popular destination is a 3.0 RT. It is located south of Ponca on Hwy 21 - on Cave Mountain Road - not for the light at heart!
Beautiful - just beautiful!
Lost Valley is just a hop skip and jump away from 'The Crag'. The trail here is a 2.4 RT hike that is very scenic. There is a cave to explore and Eden Falls (which was non-existent at the time of our visit)

Poteau Mtn Wilderness

October 27, 2007
This little bit o heaven is located in the Ouachita National Forest - north of Waldron, south of Mansfield. The road getting there was anything but fun!
We took a hike down an old logging road - about a 5 mile round trip to see Slate Falls - well there is no water this time of year but a good scenic hike anyway.
Many hunters were setting up deer camps along this forest road (#158)
